FAQ'S

1. What is an Adult Home?

An Adult Home is for someone needing minimal assistance. The person would need to be able to ambulate independently with or without an assistive device, dress themselves and take care of their personal hygiene.

2. What Does the Nursing Staff Consist of?

At this point in time, the NYS Dept. of Health does not require a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN), however "The Home" employs one full-time LPN. The additional nursing staff consists of Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA's), and Personal Care Assistant (PCA's).

3. How prevalent is staff turnover at "The Home?"

Although our Administrator is new, she has worked in human services for over 15 years and serving the elderly population is her passion.  Our Assistant Administrator/book keeper has been with The Home for over 10 years.  Our Dietary manager have been with “The Home” for more than twenty-five years. The staff have an average stay of ten years.

4. What comprises 24 hour supervision of “The Home”?

 There are at least two employees on duty at all times. Our Administrator, Nursing Supervisor and Maintenance Supervisor are on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

5. How do the daily menus provide for residents with special diets?

 We provide "no-extra salt", "no concentrated sweets" and "regular" diets.

6. Who is respite care for at “The Home”?

It is for someone needing one week to six weeks of respite. All the same services are offered for a short-term stay and the person must meet “Adult Home Care” criteria.
